The Purge Project: A Long Overdue Update

October 2, 2011

As you may have guessed by the lack of posts, my Purge Project has lost quite a bit of steam.  I completed the den without any loss of enthusiasm and moved on to the kitchen, where I just couldn’t seem to get it done.  I have no idea why, except that whenever I walk into my kitchen with the intention of cleaning out something, I end up getting distracted by all of the other “to do” items — dirty dishes, dinner prep, etc.  Since my last post I have not purged anything in there except the junk drawer and half of the bottom cabinets.  Here’s what I got rid of:

  • 6 medicine dosing spoons
  • 7 sets of chopsticks
  • 12 dish cloths
  • a mini food processor (I have a full size one… why do a need a mini too?)
  • Pampered Chef ice shaver (purchased at thrift store for $1 and never used)
  • 2 cans of refried beans (no one here likes them, I have no idea why they were in the cabinet!)
  • a wood rolling pin that frustrated the heck out of me whenever I tried to use it
  • 3 large chip clips that took up a lot of space in the junk drawer.  Cheapo clothes pins from the dollar store work just as well and are a lot smaller.
