Works for Me Wednesday: Toys Worth Buying

November 5, 2008

This special themed edition of Works for Me Wednesday is concentrating on toys. Good toys. The kind that you buy for Christmas and have seen your children use consistently. You know, instead of being relegated to a dark corner of their closet and never seen again. Here are our top three.

Legos. Trevor played with these a lot when he was younger, spent a few years ignoring them, and now has recently rediscovered them. The only bad thing I can say about Legos is that they hurt like all get out when you step on them And step on them you will, because they are small and hard to keep track of.

A 64 count (or bigger) box of Crayola Crayons with the built in sharpener. Who doesn’t like to color? I’m 42 and I still enjoy it.

Little Tykes Play Kitchen, like this one.  I have an older (soundless) version that I purchased for $10 at a yard sale.  It has been a favorite not just for my daughter, but for nearly every child under age 7 who has visited my house.

  1. We match on 2 out of three. Oldies but goodies!

  2. I love art supplies. Crayons, markers, paper. These are timeless and add so much to a child;s life.
Legos live forever. Just watch out for the “land mines” in the middle of the night. 🙂
Play kitchens are wonderful. Ruth’s was in our kitchen for years. You are right, ever child that entered had to play with it. It was a “freebie”. Some one was throwing it out. I have been glad we were able to pick it up. 🙂
Great list. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
