Happy Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2007

Dan and I celebrated Valentine’s Day last night, since our favorite babysitters (AKA the two grandmoms) have love lives of their own and wouldn’t be available tonight. It was nice — we didn’t have to fight for a reservation anywhere, pay through the nose for a meal, or be harrassed in general by crowds. I almost preferred it to going out on February 14, to be honest.

Anyway…. if you’re wondering what I got Dan, here it is:

hehehehe — how could I resist? I love looking for men’s boxers with funny things printed on them. Generally speaking I give Dan a new set of boxers every year for Christmas (they are perfect stocking stuffers!) and, when I find an irresistible pair, other occasions as well.

What did he give me? Well, it’s been his tradition for 6 or 7 years now (maybe more) to give me a CD on Valentine’s Day with songs that either express his love for me or songs that signify some event that we’ve been through in the last year. Isn’t it romantic?!?!? Every year he has at least one song on there that makes me cry. This year it was “She’s Everything” by Brad Paisley.

[sniff] I do love my man Dan.

And I know that a CD isn’t something flashy or expensive, but I just couldn’t feel more special than when I listen to those songs that he hand-picked for me. Besides, as far as store-bought presents are concerned, it’s hard to top what he gave me on Valentine’s Day 1999:
