Thursday 13: World Travel Edition
October 22, 2009I’ve decided lately, having finally paid off our debt, that I want to see more of the world. It’s always been an interest of mine, going at least as far back as my high school days. I was in the AFS and wanted to be an exchange student. We couldn’t afford that (or my parents were justifiably freaked out about the idea of their first born spending an entire year in another country) — but I did get to go to France for a week.
Since my college graduation (degree in International Affairs), I’ve visited England and Canada. But now that I’m middle aged I am really itching to see more of the world. I want to travel now while I am able, before I lose my nerve or can’t move around as well.
There are at least two dozen different places I would like to see. Here are the top 13 (with links for photos):
- Cornwall, England
- Venice, Italy
- Montevideo, Uruguay
- Barcelona, Spain
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Florence, Italy
- San Marino
- Santorini, Greece
- Killarney, Ireland (at Christmas time, of course)
- Other Italian sites — Verona, Cortona, Capri
- Other English sites — Norwich, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Hever Castle
- Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia, for the sole purpose of taking some really cool photos
