Works for Me Wednesday: Travel Tip

May 17, 2006

This is one of those cool organizational things that occasionally causes me to be the object of ridicule… however, I still think it’s a darned good idea, so I’m going to share it. This is the first post I’ve written for Works-for-Me Wednesday! The concept of Works-for-Me Wednesday was started by Shannon over at Rocks in My Dryer (fast becoming one of my favorite Mommy Blogs).

The tip:

When you go on vacation and you plan to send postcards to friends and family, take a few minutes before you leave to print out their names and addresses on labels. It will cut down on the amount of time you spend writing the postcards, and you won’t have to worry about packing (and potentially losing) your address book.

Also, since you know how many people you will be sending postcards to, buy as many postage-appropriate stamps as you will need before hand. This cuts back on time spent having to find a place that sells stamps and/or buying first class postage stamps for postcards (which can be mailed for less).

I have done this many times, most recently on our trip to Disney World in January. And I can say quite enthusiastically that this does indeed Work for Me!

    Mine is up too 🙂

  3. great idea! I think I’ll do this next month when I go on vacation.

  4. I did this on our last vacation and it was a great timesaver! And, we were able to get the postcards out right away so that people got them while we were STILL on vacation! Most hotels have postcards & stamps on sale at the front desk, too, if you need more!

    Good idea!!!

  5. That’s a great idea. I often think we should send a postcard, but of course I don’t have the address, or a stamp so I always forget about it. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I love this idea!

You forgot the part about making sure that if you’re going to North Dakota or to one of the countries outside the U.S. for which Carol doesn’t have a postcard, to be sure to send her one for her treasured collection. *cough*

  7. Great idea! I might actually send some out if I was so prepared!

  8. Let them ridicule you! They ridiculed Einstein! They ridiculed the Wright Brothers! You are among great minds–and I think that’s a really, really good idea!
